"Choose a job you love, and you won't have to work a day in your life." - Confucius

Unfortunately, this is easier said than done. Life being what it is, certain events can cause your love for your work to wane. Fortunately, when it comes to choosing your career, you can follow your interests and become a master in the art of combining work and passion. Here are 3 ways to do it!

Choose a workplace that is related to your passion

If making a living from your passion isn't an option, you can always work for a company that operates in the industry you love! Choose an employer whose activities are in line with your interests. For example, if you like numbers and snowmobiling, working in accounting at one of our Soucy subsidiaries could allow you to work in an environment that stimulates you!

At Soucy, many powersports enthusiasts work as prototypists, engineers, human resources advisors, sales representatives, etc. They have the opportunity to collaborate with other companies in the industry. They also get the opportunity to work closely (or remotely) with the manufacturers of the vehicles they love to ride. Sometimes they are even asked to do field tests!

Choose a schedule that allows for a work-life balance

Not being able to find the time to pursue your passion outside of work can be annoying. Fortunately, many employers, including Soucy, offer conditions that allow you to have fun at the end of the day. With a flexible or compressed schedule, you could play a sport in the morning, leave the office a little early to go to your Spanish class or have your Friday afternoons to yourself!

You can also find a job with atypical hours, such as a manufacturing job, where your workdays can be condensed! With more time to yourself, it would be easier to hit the ATV trails or make recycled furniture.

Integrate your passion into your work

Within a company, there are specific projects that can tap into your creativity and knowledge of a field. For example, an industrial designer with a passion for fishing might work on a project to design fishing equipment. A human resources advisor who loves to draw could be involved in an educational comic book project on health and safety in the workplace, or a quality technician who loves improvisation could act in a recognition video.

Getting involved in organizing an event like a run can be a great way to incorporate a passion into your work. Not all companies have someone dedicated to managing philanthropic and visibility activities. Don't be afraid to ask if this can be part of your job. You may even be doing management a favour!

Innovative and open-minded companies love to see their employees get involved in original projects, as long as they align with strategic objectives. It's up to you to find the right arguments to justify the relevance of what you suggest!

Whatever your passion in life, there are ways to integrate it into your daily life. Whether you're a fan of side-by-side trail riding, yoga or simply spending time in the great outdoors, you can find a career that suits you!
