Soucy Techno, our subsidiary located in Sherbrooke, will increase its rubber production capacity by 50% and incorporate advanced automation technologies into its systems thanks to $12 million in financial support from the governments of Canada and Quebec and Investissement Québec.

The announcement was made in Sherbrooke on January 11th in the presence of the Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, MP for Compton—Stanstead and Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food; André Bachand, MNA for Richmond; Raïs Kibonge, Deputy Mayor of Sherbrooke; and Jasmin Villeneuve, Chief Operating Officer at Soucy.

This financial support will allow Soucy Techno to acquire new specialized equipment including a new rubber mixing line, expand its existing facilities, and increase the capacity of its electrical room.

Major benefits for the industrial and agricultural sectors

The new rubber mixing line will allow us to meet a growing demand from the industrial and agricultural sectors for our track systems. They are especially prized in the agricultural sector – they allow agricultural producers to reduce soil compaction, protect crops, optimize productivity, and reduce their operating costs.

Heightened job security

These investments will also allow Soucy Techno to create 15 jobs by 2027 and to consolidate 220 existing jobs, including 20 engineering and chemical positions.

800 rubber recipes

Before the announcement, Ms. Bibeau and Mr. Bachand had the opportunity to tour the facilities, which specialize in the development and preparation of rubber compounds used in the manufacturing of tracks, hoses, gaskets, and more. François Bédard, General Manager of Soucy Techno, informed them that more than 800 different rubber recipes are designed and mixed at the Sherbrooke factory.

A strategic investment for Soucy

The financial investment announced is a testimony of the confidence placed in Soucy and its capacity to innovate, modernize, and automate. We are very proud of this expansion project which will promote local manufacturing and help the Eastern Townships stand out.

A strategic investment of this kind allows companies like Soucy to grow and remain competitive within their markets, both in Quebec and abroad. We would like to thank our partners, the governments of Canada and Quebec and Investissement Québec for their financial support.
