That honorary distinction given by the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières to Soucy and its founder, Mr Gilles Soucy, was intended to highlight its important role in the implementation of the campus of UQTR in Drummondville, its commitment in the development of the University and its mission, and its role in promoting the access of university education in the community.

Mrs Francine Ruest Jutras, Chair of the Board of Directors of the UQTR, commented that for a long time, Soucy has made education one of its social involvement priorities. This commitment is now translated by an unwavering support and significant financial engagement towards the UQTR in the realization of the campus of Drummondville. On behalf of her institution, she sincerely thanks Soucy for believing in this project and greatly contributing to its success.

The Rector of the University, Mr Daniel McMahon, has himself recognized contributions of companies like the Soucy Group as essential for its University and the community because they help increasing the educational level of the population on the long-term and promoting the development of research projects that benefit to the entire community. According to him, the close links between his institution and Soucy deserve to be mentioned as reflected by the many special projects and supervised internships in which the company participated. Furthermore, Soucy contributes to several philanthropic causes related to the field of education from the elementary school to graduate studies.
